Visiting Jaipur with my dance team, Tarantismo

The ominous date 12.12.12 saw me travelling to the pink city, Jaipur. I was there with my dance team, Tarantismo for a performance at the Mariott hotel. Shot at the entrance of the Sawai Man Singh Palace in Jaipur.

The day began with us having a 3 hour wait in the aircraft to Jaipur, due to fog twice, and the third time due to low fuel. Our hotel in Jaipur was 5 mins away from the airport, so that was a relief. 1 hour of practice, and we were out scouring the city.

In the 4 hours we had to spare, we saw the Sawai Man Singh palace. The entrance is depicted in the pic above. More to come soon. We also visited the Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal. Hunger was satisfied at local place called the Khandelwal Bhojanalay.

Post that, we left to the Mariott, to rehearse and perform.

Jaipur was lovely this time of the year. The weather was just brilliant. A pleasant 20deg in the after noon and around 14deg in the night. I would it was a lot better than Bangalore, when we landed the next day.

Photographer tip – Jaipur’s heart is filled with palaces, culture, colours and tradition. The monuments are towering and sight to behold. Best captured on a wide-angle lens. Try using the sun cleverly in your photos to get flares, silhouettes.
