Indian Open of Surfing

The Indian Open of Surfing is an annual surfing festival held along Karnataka’s famous Konkan coast, at Sasihithlu beach in the small coastal town of Mulki. Mantra Surf Club, one of the oldest surfing clubs of India hosts the event towards the end of May on the choppy pre-monsoon waters of the Arabian Sea.

More than 60 professional surfers from India participate in this event, along with scores of new- comers, ensuring that the sport of surfing continues to grow in India. The legendary Jonty Rhodes, who is also the surfing ambassador for India regularly attends the event. The region is rather humid during this time of the year. But that doesn’t stop the water lovers from splashing around on the waves.
